MOON JELLY

BENGALENSIS

The primary food source of Moon Jellies is plankton - microscopic plants and animals floating in the water. These tiny creatures may be stunned or killed by the sting as they are caught in the mucus-covered tentacles.

Adult Moon Jellies can grow up to 16 inches across the bell. Jellies are not fish! Scientists try to avoid the term “jellyfish” to prevent confusion.

Did you know?

Moon Jellies, along with other jellies, are able to degrow - they shrink down to one-tenth their size during starvation and regrow once they eat again.
