POLYPTERUS BICHIR

They have a pair of lungs, and can gulp air from the surface for oxygen.


As long as their skin remains moist enough, they can remain outside of the water for extended periods of time.


Bichir have extraordinary sense of smell, though they have very poor eyesight.


Did you know?

There are 13 different recognized Bichir species, but the Bichirs' population size is unknown.

Less likely to become endangered anytime soon.
